The above quotation reflects the fast changing disregard of your rights and at Dan Ivy Law Centers we still believe that you are innocent until you are proven guilty by a jury of your peers. Dan Ivy Law Centers does a wide variety of criminal defense cases, from violations and misdomeanors to felonies, from DWI's to Drug cases, and it is important if you can afford an experienced private criminal defense attorney to get him working on your case as soon and early as possible. If you cannot afford an experenced private criminal defense attorney then always request a public defender to be appointed by the Court, and always remember any public defender is better than representing yourself, and never attempt to represent yourself under any condition. Public defenders have been falsely given a bad name, in most cases they do the best they can do considering that they have an very limited time they can devote to each of their Court appointed clients whom get their thirty minutes of justice. They do the best they can do considering they are overburdening with far too many clients and very limited time. It takes time, investigation and resources to properly develop a criminal defense to prove a defendant's innocence beyond a reasonable doubt before a jury, and if it is ultimately determined that a plea bargain is in the best interests of the client the experienced private criminal defense attorney obtains the best result possible only by the Prosecutor knowing that your experienced private defense attorney is prepared, willing and ready to go to jury to defend his client. I always advise my clients to think first, and if they are ever stopped, questioned or arrested never give a statement to the police. You have a consititutional right to remain silent, and should always exercise that right. Law enforcement officers are trained to get suspect to give statements against their interests and/or confess to a crime. Never give any statements to a law enforcement officer nor given them permission to allow them officers to search your vehicle or premises. Always say no, and if they have probable cause for a non-warrant seach they can do it without your permission anyway, or make them go to a judge and get a search warrant. Regardless of the threats and promises made to you by law enforcement officials, always reply to their questions that you have a constitutional right to remain silent and you want to speak to your attorney. Never give any statements except on the advise of your legal counsel and then only with him present and with his consent. Don't lie and don't give any statements. Remember, it is not against the law for law enforcement officers to lie to you, but it is against the law for you to lie to law enforcement officers. They can lie to you to get a confession, but you can't lie to them which is an additional criminal charge they can put on you, so it is always the best to remain silent and say nothing except upon the advise of an experienced criminal defense attorney. When you are brought in front of a judge for your arraignment be there with your private criminal defense attorney and always plea not guilty, and if you are without funds always plea not guilty yourself and request a court appointed public defender, and remember a public defender is always better than no attorney at all. Dan Ivy Law Centers believes that everyone is entitled to legal representation, regardless of what criminal charges have been brought against them, and we stand ready to provide clients the criminal defense whenever and whereever we are needed.
